Juicing and Health
Juicing |
As parents, it is our duty to make sure we provide the best
nutrition to our family. But that doesn’t come easy when you live with 3
toddlers who hates eating vegetables with every fiber of their being. Even with
all the efforts of my husband and myself, our kids can’t tolerate their greens.
We decided to do some more research and we stumbled upon juicing.
Basically, juicing produce like spinach, kale and broccoli
allows you to consume and efficiently absorb vitamins, minerals, enzymes and
phytochemicals. Experts recommend that
we get at least 6 to 8 vegetables servings every day; my husband and I can’t
even meet that requirement. One way of
reaching this goal is to concentrate everything in one sitting by juicing
fruits and vegetables altogether, making sure that you get the right serving
per day.
At first, we were only targeting our children’s health. But as
we go further along with juicing our greens, we eventually started making green
juice for ourselves. With our hectic schedules and parenting in between, it was
also difficult for us to get the right nutrition as natural as possible.
We felt lighter and more energized and my husband instantly
became obsessed with it! In fact, we haven’t had coffee in 8 months! As soon as
he realized that going natural can lead to “physical healing” he started
experimenting on fruits and vegetables, particularly with turmeric. It’s
supposed to treat his severe allergies and rheumatoid arthritis.
If you’re not familiar with this plant, turmeric is a root –
boiled, dried, and pulverized into powder. It is mixed in many Asian dishes,
particularly curry. Research states that its active ingredient called
“curcuminoid” can treat many different illnesses, including inflammation. It’s
also a good source of antioxidants making it a good remedy for skin problems.
Many companies have taken advantage of its uses and created food supplements
from it.
We heard about the health benefits of turmeric capsules and how
it can be effective too. We haven’t tried it before though, but I heard it is
also another method of naturally treating chronic inflammation. And because of
it, my husband finally decided to juice the roots of turmeric. I thought he was
crazy at first, but I eventually learned that my husband was as sane as ever.
He has been juicing and drinking turmeric concoction together with his green
juice for months now and the joint pain he felt is gone for good.
Health Benefits of Juicing
What makes it so effective is that juicing helps you absorb the
nutrients faster. When you juice fruits, vegetables and spices, you strip down
the fiber of the plant and only get the good nutriments. This is what makes
turmeric juicing so effective. You get a potent ingredient every single time,
and the nutrients get absorbed by your system right away.
It also has this slightly pungent smell but you can always mask
its smell and earthy flavor with sweet fruits like apples and bananas and
create a smoothie. Adding a variety of fruits and vegetables can also be done
to add interesting flavors. You ought to be careful with it though. It can get
a bit messy and it’s very staining on your clothes and counter tops.
